Gold amalgam barrel is a traditional gold refining machine. It is also called small mercury ball mill which is featured by mixing the mercury and gold concentrate from shaking table, sluice box or gold centrifugal machine in order to make recovery of gold. Our automatic amalgamator adapts a new design using stepper motor to drive the machine in replacement of manual operation. This machine is used for mixing the mercury and gold with black sand to get the gold amalgam. Then distill the gold amalgam in the mercury retort and get the pure gold. Although this method is low-cost and highly efficient, it still has problems of mercury poisoning. Therefore, the amalgamation gold extraction method is usually used as an auxiliary method in conjunction with other mineral processing methods to increase the recovery rate of gold.

Working Principle

This machine is composed of cylinder body, frame, hand gear reducer, frame, electrical control and other main components. The basic principle of the mercury amalgamation gold extraction method is to utilize the selective wetting effect of mercury on gold particles. During the mercury amalgamation process, the surface of gold particles get wet by mercury, and then the mercury diffuses into the interior of the gold particles to form amalgams of different compositions, such as AuHg2, AuAg and Au3Hg. Finally it will form a solid solution of gold in mercury. This process is to achieve effective separation of gold particles from other minerals.
